Jolie-laide

What is both beautiful and ugly simultaneously? The French phrase jolie-laide, meaning "pretty-ugly", directly addresses the concept of being just that. There is an uncomfortable awkwardness in the style I draw these women. But they are none the less, radiating beauty. They are invoked with confidence, power, intuition and resolve. Fear does not rule them.  
If you can't see their beauty, then it's obviously not meant for you to behold.
